According to the company’s announcement and rumors making the rounds online, there’re around six coins that are supported by the Galaxy s10’s crypto wallet.
Samsung, South Korea’s largest business conglomerate and the world’s most phenomenal phone maker, announced on Wed, Feb. 20, the release of its much-awaited flagship smartphone – the Galaxy S10. The device comes preloaded with a crypto wallet. The company said the pre-installed wallet on the device comes as a cold wallet. A cold wallet is a wallet that does not need an internet connection to store digital assets. The phone manufacturer said:
“Galaxy s10 is built with defense-grade Samsung Knox, as well as secure storage backed by hardware, which houses your private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services.”
The inclusion of a cryptocurrency wallet on the device could mean that millions of smartphone users are introduced to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Many also expect the entry of the South Korea-based technology giant into the cryptocurrency space to bring innovations to ease crypto’s overly complicated user experience.
Six cryptocurrencies that are potentially supported
Samsung did not disclose any details regarding specific coins or decentralized applications it will support. However, looking at the company’s announcement and rumors making the rounds online there are around six coins that are supported by the Galaxy s10’s crypto wallet. These projects include Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Cosmee (COSM), Enjin, ICON, and BAT. Samsung confirmed the first four assets during the S910 launch in Barcelona. The last two coins, ICON, and BAT are still speculations.
Enjin has become an interesting centerpiece for both blockchain enthusiasts and smartphone users. Samsung demonstrated the use of the Enjin wallet in a series of videos and advertisements for the Galaxy s10.
The screenshot posted by a Korea-based telecommunication company Tworld features Enjin coin (ENJ) and Basic Attention Token (BAT) – an Ethereum-based token used in digital advertising. Apart from ENJ and BAT, Enjin wallet supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, ERC-20, ERC-721, and ERC-1155 tokens.
It remains to be seen whether the mentioned coins will be supported by the Galaxy s10.
