The tennis player invested in Coinbase and other 30 companies through her investment business called Serena Ventures and that she kept secret.
Serena Williams Invests in Coinbase
Sports figures tend to invest the funds they earn by playing a sport in other industries. This is the case of Serena Williams, one of the best tennis players all over the world. According to her post released on Instagram, she explains that she wanted to give opportunities to founders across several industries.
On the matter, Serena Williams wrote:
“In 2014, (yes I know I can keep a secret) I launched Serena Ventures with the mission of giving opportunities to founders across an array of industries. Serena Ventures invests in companies that embrace diverse leadership, individual empowerment, creativity and opportunity. Slide right to see a few brands in our portfolio.”
Serena Ventures’ official site shows that she has a market capitalization of $12 billion in her portfolio. The official website explains that she encourages collaboration among portfolio companies and also expands partnership opportunities.
Some of the firms in which Serena Ventures invested in include Masterclass, The Wing, Mayvenn, Gobble, Coinbase, Billie, Tonal, Lola and many others.
Coinbase is one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges and platforms around the world. It is not only one of the largest but it also has a wide range of services and products for users. The company accepts many different cryptocurrencies and it allows traders to start purchasing digital currencies in just a few clicks.
Now, the exchange decided to expand to Japan and other markets such as in Latin America or Asia. It is clear that with Serena Ventures’ funds the exchange received the necessary support to keep its expansion plan.
